Red's Backyard Ultra

Red's Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra event held at Integral Energy Park, Darkes Road, Kembla Grange, NSW on Saturday 1 August 2026. The format requires runners to complete repeated loops of 6.7 km, with one loop started each hour and repeated until a single runner remains.

The course follows a NSW state cross-country layout with two sections: one run clockwise (red) and the other anticlockwise (blue). It is described as relatively flat and non-technical, with a mix of manicured grass and trail. The route will be marked with red and white peg flags, signs, bunting and reflective markers for night running.

This edition hosts the 2026 Australian Backyard Ultra team for the Backyard Ultra World Team Championships and is a silver ticket event that provides a direct qualification opportunity to the Australian team.

Entries were released in two price tiers: an initial release at $230 and a second release at $240. Entries open on 21 February 2026 and close on 17 July 2026 unless positions fill earlier. The event may operate a waitlist if sold out; waitlist entrants are contacted in order and given a limited time to accept an offered spot. Refunds are only available when the waitlist fills a cancelled spot. Transfers are not offered.

The event hub sits at the course centre and includes a kids play area, spectator areas with fire drums, food and beverage vendors, organised runner personal aid stations and three main parking areas managed on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
