Red Rock Sunset Rumble

The Red Rock Sunset Rumble takes place in Red Rock Canyon Park within Topanga, California. The event is held during the sunset season in the Santa Monica Mountains, featuring courses that traverse sandstone cliffs, oak forests, and chaparral. Participants encounter views of the Backbone Trail, Saddle Peak, and the Pacific Ocean. All races are managed as cupless events to reduce waste.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 10k Rumble - A timed course with approximately 1,360 feet of vertical gain and loss. It consists of 90% fire roads and a half-mile singletrack section, including two major climbs and a final downhill stretch.
  • Hiker's Delight - A non-timed 4.5-mile course with approximately 1,075 feet of vertical gain and loss. This option is intended for non-competitive participants and follows a route to the Calabasas Peak summit.

Aid stations providing water and electrolyte hydration are located at specific intervals along the routes. The 10k course features stations at miles 1.8 and 3.6, while the hiker's route has one station at mile 2.27. On-site amenities for participants include a beer garden for those 21 and over, plant-based tacos, coffee, and sports massage services.

There is no on-site parking at the race location. Free off-site parking is provided at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Topanga School Road, with a shuttle service transporting participants to a drop-off point approximately 0.6 miles from the race site.
