Ranger Ultras PB230km Trail Challenge
The event is a long distance trail challenge covering 230 km with a 75 hour time limit and a total ascent of 6162 metres. The route follows the Pennine Bridleway and related upland trails through the Peak District, West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire moors, finishing in Cumbria.
The course uses established trails and rights of way. Organisers provide GPX files and a comprehensive race briefing document for navigation. On-course support includes a Ranger Safety Team, water top-up locations and two indoor checkpoints with hot meals, hot drinks, sleeping space and limited shower facilities. The finish venue is an inclusive hostel style facility with beds, showers and a home cooked meal for finishers.
Participants may access drop bags at both checkpoints and at the finish. Checkpoints have maximum permitted rest times and offer bunkrooms; the route is run in stages with the following segment distances and ascents:
- Edale to Hebden Bridge, 93 km, ascent 2897 m
- Hebden Bridge to Settle, 69 km, ascent 1685 m
- Settle to Kirkby Stephen, 68 km, ascent 1580 m
Entries are limited to a maximum of 30 participants. Minimum age is 20 years. The event includes finishers eco-medals and trophies for fastest finishers in specified age categories. Meals at checkpoints offer a meat or vegetarian option and may not suit restricted diets. Registration includes a pre-race evening with optional low cost bunkhouse accommodation.
