Ranger Ultras PB230km Trail Challenge
The PB230 Trail Challenge is a long-distance trail run covering 230 km (143 miles) along parts of the Pennine Bridleway National Trail. Participants have a maximum time of 75 hours to complete the route, which starts at The Peak Centre in Edale and finishes in Kirkby Stephen. The course passes through the Peak District, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire moors, and Cumbria, with a total ascent of 6162 metres.
The event features indoor checkpoints with hot meals, sleeping space, and access to personal drop bags. A safety team provides support on the course. Participants receive route notes and GPX files in advance. Entry is limited to a maximum of 30 participants, with a minimum age requirement of 20.
Race registration and a kit check take place the evening before the start. A pre-race breakfast is provided on the morning of the event. Finishers receive an eco-medal, and trophies are awarded for the first male and female, as well as for the fastest finishers in age categories.
Schedule Overview
The event takes place from a Thursday to a Sunday in mid-April. The itinerary includes two major checkpoints:
- Checkpoint 1 (Edale to Hebden Bridge): 93 km, 2897m ascent.
- Checkpoint 2 (Hebden Bridge to Settle): 69 km, 1685m ascent.
- Final leg (Settle to Kirkby Stephen): 68 km, 1580m ascent.
