Event overview
The Ranger Ultras PB230km Trail Challenge is a timed trail event held from 16 to 19 April 2026. The route covers 230 km (143 miles) with a total ascent of 6162 m and a 75-hour overall cut-off. The event is organised by Rangers Expeditions & Ultras with a race headquarters at The Peak Centre, Edale. Entry is limited to a maximum of 30 participants. Minimum age is 20 years.
Course and logistics
The route follows the Pennine Bridleway for much of the distance, with some deviations onto well defined upland alternatives to avoid roads and urban areas. Terrain includes runnable trails and technical ascents through the Peak District, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire moors, finishing in Cumbria. GPX files and detailed navigation notes are provided to entrants. Organiser safety teams will operate on course and at checkpoints.
Checkpoints and services
There are two indoor on-course checkpoints and an indoor finish, arranged as three race sections:
- Edale to Hebden Bridge - 93 km, ascent 2897 m
- Hebden Bridge to Settle - 69 km, ascent 1685 m
- Settle to Kirkby Stephen (finish) - 68 km, ascent 1580 m
Checkpoints provide hot meals, hot drinks, sleeping space or bunkrooms, showers at some locations, drop-bag access and water top-ups. Finishers receive an eco-medal and trophies are awarded for fastest overall and age-category winners.
