Event Overview
Ranch to Ranch 2026 is a trail running event held on 28 February 2026 in Alpine, California. The location is 22010 Lyons Valley Rd, Alpine, CA 91901, in Japatul Valley.
The event offers four distances:
- Kids 2K
- "Ranch Hand" 5K
- "Ranch Wrangler" 10K
- "Ranch Foreman" 15K
There are prize categories for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with male and female awards at each distance. An extra prize category is offered for teams.
Kids 2K entries cost 15 USD. The 5K costs 65 USD, and the 10K and 15K each cost 70 USD. Long sleeve tech shirts and cookie medals are included with all entries. Additional Epic Recess and Ranch to Ranch patches are sold at the check-in table.
Course and Format
The 5K, 10K, and 15K routes follow private single track trails between two working ranches in Japatul Valley. Runners start at the ranch on Lyons Valley Road, follow a trail to Windfall Ranch, complete a loop on that property, then return to the start and finish area. Parts of the course are technical and require attention to footing.
The Kids 2K course stays on the Epic Recess ranch property.
The course is not described as fast. Aid stations along the route provide fluids and snacks. Bib pickup takes place on race morning.
No dogs and no strollers are allowed on the course.
Team Category
A team consists of 3 runners, each in a different distance: one in the 5K, one in the 10K, and one in the 15K. Teams are recognized in a separate prize category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
