Race The Light

Race The Light is a trail event on the Erme Estuary at Mothecombe that offers two course options:

  • 8.5 miles Classic course
  • Half Marathon

The Classic follows estuarine tracks and woodland trails across the privately owned Flete Estate and includes two crossings of the River Erme. The route begins on the estuary slipway, features river crossings and wooded sections, and concludes with a steep ascent to the finish near the SchoolhouseDevon area. The Half Marathon uses parts of the Classic route without the two woodland loops, includes a roughly five mile section on the South West Coast Path, and crosses the estuary on the return at Wonwell.

A head torch is mandatory due to variable light and tidal conditions. There is a three hour cut-off for the second estuary crossing. The course will be fully marked and marshalled, with first aid on course and at headquarters. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race. Each finisher receives a bespoke Race The Light medal. Minimum entry age is 17 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
