Race The Light

Race The Light is an off-road event at Mothecombe on the Erme Estuary that offers two course options. The event takes place on the privately owned Flete Estate and uses estuarine tracks, trails and a coastal path.

Distances:

  • Classic 8.5 miles
  • Half Marathon

The Classic route starts on the estuary slipway, follows trails through the Flete Estate and includes two crossings of the River Erme before a steep uphill finish above the estuary. The Half Marathon shares sections of the Classic route but omits the two woodland loops and includes a five-mile section on the South West Coast Path; it crosses the Erme estuary on the return only. There is a three hour cut-off for the second crossing.

The course will be fully marked and marshalled. First aid will be available on course and at headquarters. A head torch is mandatory. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race. Each finisher will receive a bespoke Race The Light medal. Minimum age to enter is 17 or older.

Entries open 12 December 2025 and close 25 November 2026. Entry fees vary by course and UK Athletics membership status, for example Classic fees are £38 for UKA members and £40 for non-members while Half Marathon fees are £48 for UKA members and £50 for non-members.
