Northampton Pretty Muddy 5k

Northampton Pretty Muddy is a charity obstacle event held in Abington Park, Abington Park Crescent, Northampton NN3 3AD. The event features the Pretty Muddy® 5k course with obstacles that require participants to climb, crawl and slide. The route starts and finishes at the top of the park field alongside the event parking and runs through the scenic areas of Abington Park on a mix of pathways and grass.

Waves start every 15 minutes to manage safety on the course. Marshals are present on the route and participants may skip an obstacle if necessary. To take part in the main Pretty Muddy event participants must be 13 years of age or older; separate Pretty Muddy Kids events are available for younger children.

Available on site are refreshments, toilets and event parking; the car park is on grass and is next to the event site. Blue badge parking is available in the general event car park. There are bike racks in the park and numerous bus routes serve the area. The closest train station is Northampton, approximately 4 miles from the park. Electric vehicle charging points are nearest at The County Cricket Ground.

The event is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs. Dogs, bag drop and showers are not available. Support features include sunflower wristbands, trained Event Managers and a QR code for BSL stage content. Backyard Ultra at Delapre Abbey in Northampton offers solo, pairs or an 8 loop option on 4.167 mile (6.7 km) hourly loops. Entry fees range from £85 to £225.

A six hour timed challenge at Northampton Active offering distances from 5K to ultramarathon, run as laps on a 4.37 mile circuit. Aid tables, a finishers medal and a goody bag are provided.

A multi-terrain 5 km race at Fineshade Wood on Sunday 26 April 2026 as Race 1 of the Northants 5K Series. The event includes bespoke finish medals, a virtual completion option with posted medals, and ANPR cashless parking.

A muddy 5k obstacle course at Stoneleigh Park on 02 May 2026, with staggered wave starts, a fundraising target and basic on-site facilities; participants must be 13 or older.
