NACC's RACE AROUND RED TOP - Cartersville, GA

NACC's RACE AROUND RED TOP runs March 8 to March 31, 2026, with in-person events at Iron Hill Trail Head in Cartersville and a virtual option. Event entries include multiple 5k formats:

  • 2 Dog Canicross 5k Race
  • 1 Dog Canicross 5k Race
  • Dog Friendly 5k
  • Run Virtually

Each registered participant receives a race T-shirt and a finisher challenge coin; T-shirt size is not guaranteed for registrations after February 20. Additional race logo merchandise is available for purchase.

Canicross gear rules apply: dogs must wear designated canicross harnesses with Y chest bands and use a bungee lead of about 4 to 6 ft attached to a hands-free waist belt. Only one dog may run with a competitor at a time unless entered in the 2-Dog Canicross or Dog Friendly 5k classes. The 2-Dog class follows IFSS style equipment standards using a single split bungee line with a neckline. Dog Friendly entries have less restrictive rules but face leads, flexi leashes, and no-pull harnesses are not allowed; a two-dog limit applies.

Races are chip timed and will use rolling starts with runners grouped by estimated finish time to reduce congestion. There is one aid station at mile 1.5. Packet pickup is available on site on race day. A parking fee applies at the state park. Registered children under 15 must run with a registered adult. The event enforces a no greet policy; dogs must be leashed and under handler control and reactive dogs will be managed separately. No transfers, refunds, or deferments are allowed.
