The Rabun Half Marathon is a trail event near Sky Valley, Georgia, held on May 31, 2026. The course is approximately 11.5ish miles and follows trails and fire roads through wilderness terrain. It includes about 4.2 miles of singletrack, crosses 14 footbridges, and passes creeks and small waterfalls.
Runners ascend to the summit of Rabun Bald and gain roughly 2700 ft overall while experiencing nearly 6000 ft of elevation change along the route. The course features a descent of about 2200 ft over 2.8 miles and several climbs on USFS 7 (Hale Ridge Road). The route also passes Holcomb Creek Falls and Ammons Falls and offers 360 degree views from the summit overlooking three states.
The event is cupless; participants should carry a water bottle or collapsible cup. One aid station with water and sports drink is located near the Three Forks trailhead at about eight miles. Participants are asked to carry food or gels they need. There is a four hour course cutoff, and typical finishing times are listed around two to two hours forty five minutes.
Parking is along one side of Hale Ridge Road/USFS 7 and carpooling is encouraged; parking is limited at the start and finish area. The event is held under permit from the US Forest Service.
