Quiet Silence - Lake Mills, WI

Quiet Silence is scheduled for December 18, 2026 and is organized by TYDISH Running in Lake Mills, WI. The event offers two out-and-back trail distances on a flat crushed-limestone rails-to-trails route that is wide and generally non-technical.

Distances offered:

  • 16 miles
  • 31 miles

Course and conditions are winter-focused and vary by year. The multi-use trail is not maintained for snow; sections may be clear, drifted, or require post-holing. Participants should expect variable surface conditions and prepare equipment accordingly.

Aid and support differ by distance. The 16-mile turnaround provides fluids (water and an electrolyte drink), light snacks, and a drop-bag location; the drop bag will be returned to the start/finish but may not be available immediately. The 31-mile turnaround includes a fuller aid station with cold and hot drinks, food, a covered lit tent with chairs and heaters, volunteers, and the same drop-bag access at the 16-mile point (passed twice). Portable toilets are available at the start and at the 31-mile turnaround; there is no toilet at the 16-mile turnaround.

Safety and event policies are specified. Participants must wear two rear-facing and one forward-facing red light with a blinking option and carry at least 10 square inches of reflective material on both the front and back of outer layers; checks occur during packet pickup. Aid stations operate cupless; participants should provide their own vessels. No incessant noise makers or on-site alcohol service are permitted.

Finishers receive a token; the top three women and top three men in each distance receive an additional gift. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
