Quiet Silence - December 18, 2026

Quiet Silence is a night trail running event in Lake Mills, WI, held on a wide crushed limestone rails to trails corridor. Two out and back distances are offered. The route is flat and described as having almost zero technical sections.

The trail is multiuse and not maintained for snow or ice. Conditions can vary from bare ground to significant snow with drifts, and sections may require breaking trail or post holing. Participants are advised to prepare for changing winter conditions.

Aid and support differ by distance. The 16 mile course has a halfway turnaround with fluids, an electrolyte drink, light snacks, and a drop bag location; the 16 mile turnaround does not have a portable toilet. The 31 mile course has a full aid station at its turnaround with hot and cold drinks, food, a covered lit tent with chairs and heaters, volunteers, and a portable toilet. Drop bags for the 16 mile turnaround are returned to the start and finish area though exact timing cannot be guaranteed.

Race policies include a cupless aid station approach so participants must carry their own vessels. No loud noise makers are allowed and the organizers do not provide alcohol. Required gear follows DNR guidelines: two rear facing and one forward facing red lights with a blinking option and at least 10 square inches of reflective material on both front and back of outer layers. Gear checks occur at packet pickup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
