Quiet Silence : Lake Mills, WI
Quiet Silence is a late‑season night running event near Lake Mills, WI, held on a flat crushed‑limestone rails-to-trails corridor. The course is wide and largely non-technical, laid out as out-and-back options.
Distances offered:
- 16 miles
- 31 miles
The 16-mile course turns at the halfway point, where a basic aid stop provides water, an electrolyte drink, and light snacks. Participants may leave a drop bag at that turnaround; organizers will return those bags to the start/finish area but cannot guarantee an exact retrieval time.
The 31-mile course also uses the same turnaround and includes a full aid station with hot and cold drinks, food, a covered lit tent with chairs and heaters, and volunteer support. Portable toilets are located at the start and at the 31-mile turnaround; there is no toilet at the 16-mile turnaround.
Race policies include a cupless aid-station system; participants must provide their own vessels. No loud noise makers are allowed and organizers will not serve alcohol.
Required safety gear follows DNR guidance for the multi-use trail: two rear-facing red lights and one forward-facing red light with a blinking option, plus at least 10 square inches of reflective material on both the front and back outer layers. Gear checks occur during packet pickup.
Weather and trail conditions vary by year; surfaces may be clear, snow-covered, or have drifts and soft sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
