Quad Rock 25 & 50 Mile Trail Races
The Quad Rock Trail Races take place in the hills west of Fort Collins, utilizing the trail systems of Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park. The event marks its 15th running and features a course situated on the northeastern flanks of the Rocky Mountains, offering views of the Great Plains to the east and Longs Peak to the west.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 25 Miles: Features approximately 5,500 feet of vertical gain.
- 50 Miles: Consists of two loops with over 11,000 feet of net vertical gain.
The terrain is composed of 85% singletrack and 15% dirt road. The 25 mile course follows a clockwise loop starting from Soldier Canyon. Runners in the 50 mile category complete the first loop clockwise and the second loop in reverse. The course reaching elevations between 5,444 and 7,087 feet.
The event is trail-marked with pink flagging and flour markings at intersections. Full-service aid stations are located at various intervals, including Towers Road, Horsetooth Trailhead, and Arthur’s Trailhead. These stations provide hydration, sweet and salty snacks, and hot food. Most stations offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Registration is capped at 450 total participants, with 200 spots for the 50 mile race and 250 for the 25 mile race. Finishers receive an award and a post-race meal at the Soldier Canyon area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
