Quad Dipsea
The Quad Dipsea is a 28.4 Miler trail event in Mill Valley, California that follows the Dipsea Trail from Old Mill Park to Stinson Beach and back, repeated four times. The course packs about 9,000 feet of vertical over roughly 28 miles and combines long climbs, stairs, single-track trails, and coastal sections.
The route leaves Old Mill Park (Throckmorton Avenue and Cascade Way) and quickly climbs three long flights of stairs, then continues through an old horse ranch to Windy Gap. The trail drops into Muir Woods, crosses Redwood Creek, and rises through trees and grasslands over named sections such as Dynamite, The Hogsback, The Rainforest, and Cardiac. From Cardiac there are panoramic ocean views before a steep descent through Steep Ravine and a short but steep climb called Insult Hill. The course then follows The Moors toward Stinson Beach; runners turn at Stinson and return along the same trail, then repeat the entire route for the Quad.
Aid stations are located at Cardiac Hill, Stinson Beach, and Old Mill Park. Cutoffs are expressed as elapsed times: the halfway turnaround cutoff is 4 hours 30 minutes, the cutoff to leave Stinson Beach for Lap 4 is 6 hours 45 minutes, and the finish cutoff is 9 hours. Due to single-track sections, no pacers or hiking/trekking poles are permitted. No shortcuts along the Dipsea Trail are allowed.
Registration opens August 1, 2026. There are no refunds, rollovers, or exchanges; a wait list will be used and the entrant list is finalized by November 10. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
