Quad Dipsea

The Quad Dipsea is a trail running event in Mill Valley, California, covering about 28.4 miles with roughly 9,000 feet of total elevation gain. The course begins and ends at Old Mill Park (Throckmorton Avenue & Cascade Way) and follows the Dipsea Trail to Stinson Beach and back, then repeats that full out and back for the quad distance.

The route includes multiple stair sections and long climbs through varied terrain. Runners pass through areas named Dynamite, The Hogsback, The Rainforest, Cardiac, Steep Ravine, Insult Hill, and The Moors. The course crosses Redwood Creek and offers ocean views near the Stinson Beach turnaround. Trail surfaces include packed dirt, roots, rocks, and stairs.

Aid stations are located at Cardiac Hill, Stinson Beach, and Old Mill Park, which also serves as the halfway point and the start and finish area. Time limits and cutoffs are set by elapsed time from the start: 4 hours 30 minutes to the halfway turnaround, 6 hours 45 minutes to depart Stinson Beach on the second loop, and 9 hours to finish.

Due to single track sections, pacers are not allowed and hiking poles are prohibited. There are no refunds, no rollovers, and no exchanges. A wait list is used for entries and the final entrant list is finalized by November 10. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
