Possum's Revenge : Graford, TX

Possum's Revenge is a trail running event held in May at Possum Kingdom Lake Hike and Bike Trail near Bug Beach Road in Graford, Texas. The course offers varied terrain and lake views, with rocks, roots, sand, climbs and flat sections. Each main loop has about 1,460 feet of elevation gain.

All races start and finish at Bugg Beach. The main loop measures 17.35 miles. Distances offered include:

• 69 Mile four loops
• 52 Mile three loops
• 56K single ultramarathon distance
• 17 Mile one main loop
• 8 Mile modified loop about 8.2 miles
• 4 Mile modified loop about 4 miles

The event is cupless and requires runners to carry a hydration device such as a water bottle or bladder. A reusable collapsible cup is available for purchase at packet pickup. Aid stations are staffed and provide water, Gatorade and a range of food items including bananas, sandwiches, chips, cookies and soda. Two aid stations near South D&D and La Villa have nearby park bathroom facilities; the 4 Mile course passes an unmanned water aid station.

Pacers are allowed only on the final loop for the 69 Mile and 52 Mile when that loop will be run mostly in the dark. Drop bags are permitted at the start finish area and for the South D & D aid station for longer distances. Camping at Bugg Beach is primitive and first come first served; limited lodging is available nearby.

Awards include top overall and masters placements in several distances. Finishers in the 69 Mile receive a buckle; other finishers receive medals. To guarantee a shirt in a preferred size, register at least two weeks before the race. Cancellation policy provides race credit based on timing of cancellation and allows bib transfers up to two weeks before the event with an administration fee.
