Lone Star Night Run
The Lone Star Night Run is a set of nighttime trail races on the Lake Mineral Wells Trailway near Weatherford, TX. The event uses open, paved trail with a soft fine gravel surface and follows an out-and-back layout beginning and ending at the Weatherford Trailhead. The course is relatively flat with a slight incline on the outbound section and a downhill toward the finish. Nighttime September temperatures are typically around 75 to 85 degrees.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles out and back
- 10K - 6.24 miles out and back
- 10K RUCK - 6.24 miles with weight requirements
- 5K - 3.12 miles out and back
The event is part of the Texas Summer Night Series; series passes offer up to 20 percent savings and options such as a Midnight Monster Pass that can build toward the 40 Miler at the Noche Trail Run. Series passes are available until June 3, 2026. The first 50 series registrants receive a complimentary hat; finishers of multiple series races earn additional items and awards.
Event rules note that this is a cupless race with refill stations provided, no littering is allowed, and headlamps are required. Ruck weight requirements apply: participants over 150 lb carry 30 lb, participants under 150 lb carry 20 lb. Overflow parking is located about a mile away at Cartwright Park soccer fields with shuttle transport to the start area.
Race items include a T-shirt, finisher medals, a Lone Star Night RUCK patch for ruckers, placement medals for top three male and female finishers, and a Dead Freakin' Last award for the half marathon.
