Poco Trail Relay

The Poco Trail Relay takes place on Sunday, September 6, 2026 in Port Coquitlam. The race starts and finishes at Hyde Creek Rec Centre, 1379 Laurier Ave. The event is a team relay run over four sequential trail legs through parks, dyke paths and local streets.

Distances of the four legs

  • Leg 1 - 4.1 km: mostly flat from Patricia to the Coquitlam River trail to Gates Park.
  • Leg 2 - 7.8 km: mostly flat with a 77 m climb up the Poco Climb to Castle Park.
  • Leg 3 - 6.1 km: over the Mary Hill pedestrian overpass then dyke and trails to Tinhouse.
  • Leg 4 - 7.4 km: very flat on the dyke back to Hyde Creek Rec Centre.

The relay can be run solo or in teams of 2, 3 or 4. Teams decide which runner covers each leg; a solo runner covers all legs. Each team member must register and pay; registration opens in May 2026.

Logistics and support: exchange points are at Gates Park, Castle Park and Tinhouse Brewing. Water and electrolyte drinks are provided at each exchange point. Teams must arrange their own transport between exchange points; support vehicles and cyclists are encouraged for certain legs, with limited cyclist access on leg 1.

At the runners' village the final runner collects finisher medals for the whole team. Prizes include funniest team name and best costume and 1st place medals are awarded by category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
