Pleasant Ridge Backyard Ultra
Slater-Marietta, United States • 30-31 Jan 2027
Event Overview
The Pleasant Ridge Backyard Ultra is an endurance race held at the Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center in Marietta, South Carolina. This event follows a specific backyard format where participants focus on endurance rather than speed. All runners start together without distinct categories, aiming to complete as many laps as possible.
Course Details
The course utilizes a combination of the JFA trail and paved paths within the park. Participants run segments of 4.167 miles every hour on the hour. To remain in the competition, a runner must complete each lap and return to the starting area before the next hour begins. Any runner who fails to finish a lap within the hour or does not return in time receives a DNF (Did Not Finish) status.
Rules and Format
The competition is open-ended and continues as long as participants are able to complete the required distance within the time limit. The race concludes when only one person is left running. This individual must complete one final full lap alone to be declared the winner.
Participant Information
Bib pickup and aid station setup are available the day before the race begins. Aid station spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and runners using pop-up tents are responsible for securing them. All participants receive a camp mug and a t-shirt upon their DNF, while the final winner receives a specific finisher award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
