About the race
The Tacky Sweater 5K Run/Walk takes place at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina on December 19, 2026. The event uses a grass cross-country style course made up of two festive loops of 1.5 miles each; the route is wide, rolling, and includes some hills. Spectators can see participants twice along the looped course. A Tacky Sweater Contest is judged after the race with cash prizes of $50, $25, and $10 for first through third place, and awards for both team and solo entries.
Spectator votes contribute to a People's Choice selection during the post-race gathering. Post-race amenities include festive music, photo opportunities, complimentary professional race photos, and a post-race area by the barn. Race services include chip timing with live results, a custom race bib, a custom finisher medal, a custom race tattoo, event-themed giveaways, a race sticker, and a hydration sample. Water is available at the finish line only; there is no water on course and the event is cup-less so participants should bring their own hydration vessel.
Parking is included with registration and is adjacent to the finish area. Four portable toilets will be on site. There is a one hour time limit to complete the 5K walk. The race is part of the Upstate Race Series and the Upstate Giving Series, which directs registration fees and optional donations to local nonprofit organizations.
