Ice Breaker 8K
The Ice Breaker is an 8K trail race held at Lakeside Park in Piedmont, SC (1500 Piedmont Hwy, 29673). The course uses the Every Minute Trail and All Day, Baby Trail and runs through wooded single-track sections with minimal roots, gradual inclines, undulations and several switchbacks.
The layout begins with a short lap near the baseball diamonds to space runners before entering the trail head. A central hub and aid station are located on the course; participants pass this hub twice. Additional aid will be available at two separate mile markers. Due to the terrain, strollers are not recommended. Leashed dogs are allowed; the event also welcomes runners, walkers and hikers.
Start and finish are located between the baseball diamonds and the football field on the east side of Lakeside Park. Parking is available in marked spaces around the baseball fields. Packet pickup is available one hour before the race near the starting line.
Awards and timing include a finisher medal for all finishers, top three male and female overall, and top three male and female in each age group. Age categories start at 1-9 and continue through 70+ in standard increments. Registration opens 09/01/2026, closes 01/05/2027, and the listed registration fee is $25.00.
