Platte River Trail 36 Hour
Mills, United States • 25-27 Sep 2026
Event Overview
The Platte River Trail 36 Hour is a self-supported running event held in Casper, Wyoming. The race follows a "fat ass" format, meaning there are no registration fees and participants are responsible for their own navigation and logistics. The event is limited to a maximum of 10 participants, and all runners must be at least 18 years of age and register in advance.
Course Details
The primary route is a 3-mile out-and-back loop on the Platte River Trail. The course begins at the Tate Pumphouse and proceeds eastward to a turnaround point located at the Best Western Downtown before returning to the start. For participants aiming to reach 100 miles, a specific sequence is utilized:
- 3-mile out-and-back loop (completed 33 times)
- 1-mile out-and-back course with a turnaround at Amoco Park
Participation Requirements
As a self-supported event, runners must provide all their own supplies, including water, sports drinks, and food. Participants may start and finish at any time within the designated 36-hour window, provided they are off the course by the official conclusion. If a runner leaves the trail temporarily, they must re-enter at the exact same location to continue. Parking is available at the Tate Pumphouse.
Distance Tracking
Runners are responsible for recording their own progress. Participants should be prepared to track their exact distance using common GPS applications or devices, such as Strava, Garmin, or Apple Health. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
