Pigtails Run

The Pigtails Run reaches a milestone in 2026, marking its 20th year of operation. This edition serves as a rescheduled event following the postponement of the December 2025 race due to flooding. The event is held in Maple Valley, Washington, and utilizes a course that follows the river and passes through forested areas.

The event is characterized by a low-cost and low-support format. Participants should expect minimal assistance along the route and are advised that weather conditions can be difficult. Because of the limited support and potential for inclement weather, the organizers suggest that the longest distances may be difficult for participants attempting those specific milestones for the first time.

There is a strict course cut-off time of 2:30 PM for all participants to ensure safety. Runners who finish the event receive a themed medal. The celebration of the 20th anniversary includes cake for those in attendance. Registration for the event closes on April 29, 2026.

Participants can choose from several distance options:

  • 50 km
  • Marathon
  • 1/2 Marathon

Both the 50 km and the Marathon distances offer early start options for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
