World Diabetes Day Run, Stanley Park

The World Diabetes Day Run is scheduled for Sunday 15 November 2026 at Stanley Park, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY3 9EQ. All profits from the event will be donated to Breakthrough T1D, a charity set up to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

The course is a 3.1 mile loop on mainly flat tarmac paths with a short section on gravel. Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within a six hour time limit. Completing one lap qualifies a participant as a finisher; finishers receive an official time, a post race gift and a bespoke medal.

Distances and lap formats:

  • 3.1 mile loop per lap
  • Half marathon: 4 laps plus a short out and back
  • Marathon: 8 laps plus a short out and back
  • Ultra: 9 or more laps

The organiser will provide drinks and both sweet and savoury snacks along the route. Age restrictions apply: participants aged 18 to 19 have a maximum distance of marathon, while participants over 20 have no maximum distance. Entry fees are listed as £23.50 for affiliated runners and £25.50 for unattached runners. A Category AS fell race of 4 miles / 6.4 km with 350 m ascent around Punstock Road green in Darwen, featuring three climbs including Jacob’s Mound and Aggies Staircase and a looped route returning past Robin Hoods cottage.

A local fell race in the South/West Pennines, covering 10.5 km with 370 m of climb and views of Hameldon Hill and Mitchell House reservoir. Entry fees differ for affiliated and unattached runners and the event is based at Accrington Cricket..

A new 3.45 miles / 6.00 km fell race on 27 June 2026 around Kirkby-in-Furness, climbing 750 feet. The event counts for the BOFRA Championship and includes junior and senior age categories.

A trail running event at Dunsop Bridge on 5 July 2026 with fully signed 10K and 15K routes, chip timing and aid stations. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and technical t shirt; medical support and parking are included.
