PFW Running - World Diabetes Day Run
The PFW Running - World Diabetes Day Run takes place at Stanley Park in Blackpool. This event is held in support of World Diabetes Day, a global awareness campaign. All profits from the run are donated to Breakthrough T1D, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
The course consists of a 3.1 mile loop on a flat tarmac path with a short section on a gravel path. The event follows a timed format where participants can complete as many laps as they choose within a 6-hour time limit. Completion of at least one lap qualifies a runner as a finisher.
Participants may choose to target specific distances based on the number of laps completed:
- Half marathon: 4 laps plus a short out-and-back section.
- Marathon: 8 laps plus a short out-and-back section.
- Ultra: 9 or more laps.
The event is held under UKA rules with a Trail Running Association race permit. Registration is limited to 100 entrants. Participants must be at least 18 years old, with those aged 18-19 restricted to a maximum distance of a marathon.
The organizers provide drinks as well as sweet and savoury snacks during the event. All finishers receive an official time, a medal, and a post-race gift. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
