The event takes place on Saturday 29 November 2025 at Pewsey Downs near Alton Barnes. Parking, registration and facilities are at the Coronation Hall, Alton Barnes (Grid Ref SU105621, Post Code SN8 4LB). Entry is online only; standard entry closes 23:59 on 23-11-2025, with late entries and map amendments available until 23:59 on 26-11-2025 while map stocks last. There will be no entry on the day.

Limited car parking is available at the hall; a car sharing scheme is provided on the sign-up pages. Competitors should allow about 1.5 km uphill walk to the Start, mainly on footpaths, with two road crossings (one near the Start that will be marshalled). Juniors must be accompanied to and from Start and Finish.

Courses, facilities and safety

Courses listed are:

  • Blue: 6.0 km - Difficult, for experienced orienteers
  • Green: 4.0 km - Difficult, for experienced orienteers
  • Orange: 2.5 km - Moderate, suitable for all orienteers
  • Yellow: 2.0 km - Quite easy, suitable for beginners

Maps are scale 1:7,500 with 5 m contours, printed on waterproof paper with control descriptions. Terrain is open downland with some gorse, scattered trees and the White Horse monument. The event uses SportIdent timing; controls will be SIAC enabled for compatible dibbers and hire dibbers will be non-SIAC SI-Card 8. Toilet facilities and first aid kit are available in the hall. Full leg cover and a whistle are mandatory. Fences must only be crossed at marked points; steep slopes and cattle may be encountered.
