Pen y Fan

Pen y Fan is a fell race based at Cwm Llwch near Brecon (GR 006 244; what3words: published.snail.stutter). The main course covers 5.8 km with 588 m of ascent to the summit of Pen y Fan. There is a cut-off time of 60 minutes at the summit.

The event is part of the South Wales Series and is a 2026 UKA Fell Running Championship race. Teams of three are allowed. Minimum age is over 16 and junior races are to be confirmed. Safety notes state that local knowledge is beneficial, navigational skills are required, and previous fell-running experience is required.

Entries are by pre-entry only at a fee of £10 via Fabian4; there is no entry on the day and entries are limited to 300. Prize details include a £500 award for a new male or female course record. Current record times are 30:00 for men (1992) and 38:15 for women (1990/1992).

Parking is in the race field with charges intended to encourage car sharing: free for cars with three or more runners, £1 for cars with two runners, and £2 for single-occupant cars; payments are cash only. A looped trail marathon and a 10 mile race in the Brecon Beacons, starting and finishing at Parkwood Dolygaer, featuring mountain climbs, three marathon checkpoints, and a six-hour cutoff at 20.5 miles.

A community Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course in Singleton Park on 16 May 2026, with mixed grass and path terrain, staggered wave starts and accessibility provisions including sunflower wristbands and BSL stage content.

A multi terrain 10 km fun run on 22 May 2026 that visits Parc Dinefwr, Parc Penlan and Parc le Conquet. Entry is £16 without a T shirt, places are limited to 200 and a 90 minute finish cut off applies.

A 26.2 mile trail marathon near Bridgend on 23 May 2026 with mixed terrain, quarry and forestry sections, five feed stations and a GPX route. Entry was limited to 60 participants aged 18 or over.
