Parent/Child Run

Event details

The WMPCS Parent/Child Run is scheduled for October 25, 2025, at Washington Montessori Public Charter School, 2330 Old Bath Hwy, Washington, NC. The event is an on-campus fundraiser and is open to participants who are not students or employees of the school. Team registration is $20 per parent/child team (the registration appears as $10 per person). Cross country runners from WMPCS are eligible for a 50% discount code. Bib pick-up is available at the school on October 24 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (recommended) or on race day from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. Event registration closes on October 24, 2025, at 11:59 PM EDT.

Distances

• 3K (approx.) for elementary and middle school - two loops plus a lap of the soccer field
• 5K for high school - three laps plus a lap of the soccer field

Registration requires creating accounts for both parent and child, adding both registrants to the entry, and creating or joining a parent/child team with a team name and password.

Course, rules and awards

The course starts at the edge of the school soccer field and follows a trail system through woods with tree roots and bridge crossings over creeks. The route includes a loop near a pond, a guarded crossing of the school entrance road, a final grassy section, and a finishing lap around the soccer field. A course walk-through is scheduled before the race and the course will be marked.

Parent and child teams must remain together for the entire race; separation at any point results in disqualification. Each finisher will receive a small medal. First place team awards: elementary and middle school teams receive a $50 gift card and a gift basket; the high school first place team receives a $100 gift card and a gift basket.
