The OWLS Fort Macon 5K Trail Run takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Fort Macon State Park, 2303 East Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512. Entry fee is $35 and includes an OWLS short sleeve tee shirt. Registrants who register by March 31 are guaranteed a race shirt. Pre sign-in and shirt pickup are scheduled for Friday, April 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at OWLS, 100 Wildlife Way, Newport.
Course and organizer
The course is cross country style with moderate elevation. Surfaces alternate between wooded and open sun sections, include footbridge crossings, and offer views of Beaufort Inlet, Bogue Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean along the route. Race timing is provided by Run The East, LLC.
The event is presented by Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, Inc (OWLS), a non-profit 501(c)(3) wildlife shelter. OWLS cares for injured, sick, and orphaned native North Carolina wildlife, provides educational outreach, and works to rehabilitate and release animals. The organization holds required state and federal permits and does not receive county, state, or federal funding; it relies on public, corporate, and foundation donations.
