Tideland 24
This is a fully supported 24-hour ultramarathon. The event takes place in the Croatan National Forest on the Tideland National Recreation Trail. The course is a certified 1.38-mile loop. It goes through the White Oak River area, including salt marsh and forest. The trail has aluminum and wooden bridges. The surface is crushed gravel with few trip hazards and minimal elevation change.
The event raises money for the Marine Raider Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting military personnel and their families. All profits from the event are donated to the foundation after costs. In the past, the event has raised over $39,000.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and the top active-duty performer. All participants who complete 100 miles during the event receive a 100-mile belt buckle. The event partners with the MILES FOR MARSOC Community Athlete Program, which offers entry fee waivers for those who fundraise.
