Outlaw Trail Ultra Half Marathon

The Outlaw Trail Ultra Half Marathon is a point to point running race held in the Sawtooth National Forest Rock Creek Recreation Area. Located 45 minutes southeast of Twin Falls, Idaho, the event takes place within high-elevation terrain, starting at the Diamondfield Jack Campground near the Magic Mountain Ski Area.

The course covers a total distance of 14.2 miles and is designed as a mostly downhill route. Participants begin their run traveling north and conclude the race at the Third Fork Campground. The terrain varies throughout the course, beginning with a specific three-mile section on the Deadline Ridge Road, which consists of a rough jeep and ATV trail. Following this initial segment, the final 10-plus miles consist of single-track trails.

The event's name is a reference to Diamondfield Jack, a historical figure recognized as one of the first outlaws in the region. The race takes place entirely within the Sawtooth National Forest, utilizing the natural trail systems of the area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
