Event overview

The OTT Marathon & 10 Mile Race takes place on 16 May 2026 at Parkwood Dolygaer, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 2UR. The event is a looped trail in the Brecon Beacons. Minimum age is 18. Entries open 27 July 2025 and close 9 May 2026. Entries recorded so far: 4 participants.

Course and checkpoints

The marathon route goes over Pen Y Fan from Graig Fan Ddu, then Fan Y Big, then toward Talybont Reservoir with a final climb up Tor y Foel. The 10 mile route follows the marathon to Checkpoint 1 then leaves the marathon route to return via forestry tracks to Dolygaer.

There are three marathon checkpoints and one 10 mile checkpoint:

  • Checkpoint 1 at 7 miles
  • Checkpoint 2 at 14.5 miles (marathon only)
  • Checkpoint 3 at 20.5 miles (marathon only)

The marathon has a cutoff at Checkpoint 3 set at six hours after the race start.

Mandatory kit and items

Marathon compulsory kit includes mobile phone, minimum 1 liter hydration, foil blanket or bivi bag, 400 kcal emergency rations, basic first aid kit, head torch or torch, compass, whistle, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat and gloves, bag/rucksack, and a reusable cup.

10 mile compulsory kit includes a first aid kit, bivvy or foil blanket, 500 ml water, waterproof jacket, and a reusable cup.

All finishers receive a OTT Trail Marathon coaster and a buff.
