OTT Trail Marathon and 10 Mile Trail Race

The event on 15 May 2027 takes place at Parkwood Outdoors, Dolygaer, Merthyr Tydfil CF48 2UR, and uses looped and linear trail routes in the Brecon Beacons. The marathon route visits Pen Y Fan from Graig Fan Ddu, continues up Fan Y Big, passes Talybont Reservoir and includes a final climb to Tor y Foel. The 10 mile route follows the marathon route to Checkpoint 1 and then returns along forestry tracks to the finish; its mileage is approximately 10.7 miles.

Marathon entrants must carry compulsory kit including a charged mobile phone, minimum 1 litre hydration, foil blanket or bivy bag, 400 kcal emergency rations, basic first aid, head torch or torch, compass, whistle, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer with hat and gloves, and a bag or rucksack. There are three marathon checkpoints at 7 miles, 14.5 miles and 20.5 miles. The marathon has a cut off at checkpoint 3 set at six hours after the start, which requires an average pace of about 20 minutes per mile or quicker.

The 10 mile race requires a first aid kit, bivy bag or foil blanket, 500 ml water and a waterproof jacket. All finishers receive an OTT Trail Marathon coaster and buff. Prices differ for affiliated and non affiliated entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
