The One by the Canal

The One by the Canal is a point-to-point trail half marathon that follows the Grand Union Canal from Cowley Recreation Ground (High Street, Cowley, UB8 2DZ) to Cassiobury Park (Gade Ave, Watford, WD18 7LG). The route runs along country trails and woodland paths and is marked with signage and marshals.

Event entries include professional chip timing, a wooden finisher medal and on-course refreshments. There are four water stations on the route, placed at roughly 5 km intervals and served in cups, and additional water is available in the event village for refilling bottles. A food caterer will be onsite for pre- and post-race refreshments.

Facilities at the event village include medical cover, a bag drop (use the tear-off strip on the race number), and free portable toilets; there are no dedicated changing rooms or showers. Event photography is normally made available within 24 hours.

Logistics notes: a pre-race coach transfer from the finish to the start can be pre-booked so participants can park at the finish and be transported to the start; no transport is provided after the event. Race pack collection is at the event village registration tent and participants should not expect postal delivery. Race deferrals are allowed until registration closes and an administration fee applies.

Entry details: Half Marathon, entry fee £35, minimum age 17+. The course is not suitable for buggies, pushchairs, strollers or wheelchair users. Personal dogs are not permitted except approved registered medical assistance dogs. Noise-cancelling earphones are prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
