Event overview
The Occoneechee Speedway Relay takes place on February 15, 2026 at the Historic Occoneechee Speedway in Hillsborough, NC. Teams of two or four runners complete a total of 20 laps around the dirt track. Each lap is just over 1 kilometer, for a total distance of roughly 13.5 miles. Hand-offs may occur in any order and after any number of laps. There is no required distance per runner. The race uses chip timing and the event has a history of published results and records.
Logistics and registration
Registration opens November 15, 2025. Team registration is structured so the first team registrant pays the full team fee to secure the spot; teammates then register to join the existing team without paying an additional fee. Fees are $120 per 2-person team and $240 per 4-person team. Pre-race packet pickup is available the day before the race at Bull City Running - Downtown; one person may pick up packets for the whole team. Parking at the Speedway is not available and all participants and spectators are asked to carpool; parking will be directed to nearby properties with about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the track. Awards are given for 2-person and 4-person divisions in all-male, all-female, and co-ed categories. Participants receive custom race swag, snacks and refreshments, and a post-race BBQ.
