The Occoneechee Speedway Relay takes place at Historic Occoneechee Speedway in Hillsborough, NC on February 15, 2026. Teams of two or four runners share a relay that totals 20 laps, with each lap just over 1 kilometer for a total distance of roughly 13.5 miles. Hand-offs can occur in any order and after any number of laps; there is no required distance per runner. Awards are given in divisions for 2-person and 4-person teams (all male, all female, and co-ed). All participants receive custom race swag, chip-timed results, snacks and refreshments, and a post-race BBQ.
Registration and logistics
Registration opens November 15, 2025 at 8:00am EST. Team fees are $120 for a 2-person team and $240 for a 4-person team. The first team registrant pays the full team fee to secure the team spot; additional teammates register to join the existing team and are not charged a registration fee. Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for February 14 at Bull City Running - Downtown (501 Washington St.), with one person asked to collect packets for the whole team. Parking at the Speedway is very limited; participants are asked to carpool and will be directed to nearby parking (approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the Speedway).
