Oakland Hills Trail Run

The Oakland Hills Trail Run is held at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, CA and offers three trail distances. The event is limited to 330 runners across all distances and uses professional chip timing with disposable bib chips.

  • 35K - 22.8 miles, 4,550′ elevation gain
  • Half - 13.3 miles, 2,900′ elevation gain
  • 10K - 6.2 miles, 1,250′ elevation gain

Most of the courses run on technical dirt trails and non-technical fire roads. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon about every 200 meters, additional laminated signs and flour arrows at complex intersections, and blue ribbons signal wrong way routes. Hiking poles are permitted. Drop bag services are not available.

Aid stations provide a range of foods and beverages such as energy gels and chews, stroop-waffles, trail mix, pretzels, potato chips, PB&J, boiled potatoes with salt, soda, water, Skratch Labs hydration mixes, salt tablets, and seasonal fruit. Aid stations include basic first aid items. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own reusable cup or soft flask. Reusable cups and 500 ml soft flasks are sold at the event.

Parking is available at the Chabot Space and Science Center in the Oakland Hills. Post-race provisions include sweet and salty snacks and packaged foods. Awards include overall trophies, age-group medals, finisher medals, and a custom Dead Last Finisher award. Shirts use a District Perfect-Tri tri-blend technical fabric and are guaranteed for registrations received by October 10, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
