Event details

The Oakland Hills Trail Run takes place on October 25, 2025 at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, CA, with additional sections on EBMUD trails in Orinda. The event offers three distances:

  • 35K (22.8 miles)
  • Half Marathon (13.3 miles)
  • 10K (6.2 miles)

The event capacity is 300 runners across all distances. Parking is available at the Chabot Space and Science Center. Early bib pickup is offered at Sports Basement in Berkeley, and there is race-morning check-in and bib pickup at the venue. All races are chip timed using MyLaps and Race Director; disposable timing chips are attached to the back of each bib. There is a 6.5 hour time limit for the 35K. Drop bag services are not available. Dogs on leash are allowed in the park; runners who bring dogs must start at the back of the pack.

Course and support

Courses run mostly on technical dirt trails and non-technical fire roads; hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Elevation gains listed for each distance are provided on official course files and profiles. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon approximately every 200 meters; blue ribbons indicate the wrong way. Aid stations provide a range of food and drink items such as energy gels, Stroopwafels, trail mix, PB&J, soda, water, Skratch Labs hydration mix, and general first-aid supplies (no anti-inflammatory medicine). This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own water bottle or reusable cup. All finishers receive a custom medal and the top three overall finishers per distance receive trophies; age-group awards are given by chip time. Race shirts are tri-blend performance tees; a registration date is provided to guarantee shirt size. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
