Nuts Summer Trail Race - Balbirnie

The event takes place on 17 May 2026 in Balbirnie Park, Markinch. The trail race is held on paths and trails through the park woodlands, running among rhododendrons and around a collection of about 60 tree species. The course distance is listed as between 4 and 4.5 miles.

All finishers receive a race medal or memento. Prizes are awarded to the first three overall male and female finishers and to the first male and female in the Over 40, Over 50, Over 60 and Over 70 categories. Spot prizes are also offered.

Race headquarters provides number pick-up, toilets, bag storage and limited changing facilities at 252 Memorial Hall, Betson Street, Markinch KY7 6AA. There is strictly no parking within Balbirnie Park; car parking is available in the car park just south of the hall at the primary school and in surrounding streets.

The event is pre-entry only and has a stated entry fee of £11.00. No refunds or deferrals are offered, but free entry transfers are allowed up to seven days before the race, subject to notifying the race organiser of any name changes. Routes and distances may be altered for weather or forestry work. The events are insured and permitted by the Association of Running Clubs and held under ARC rules. Trail runs nearby

A seaside 5 km out and back on West Sands, St Andrews with a one mile children's fun run and chip timing. Entry fees support RNLI and two local charities and finishers receive post race refreshments.
