Green Mile Loop Challenge
The Green Mile Loop Challenge is a timed loop event held in North Park and organized by the North Park Trail Runners, a local non-profit. The event uses trails originating from Deer Browse 2 Pavilion near the North Park Swimming Pool parking lot, across from Harmar Shelter. The loop runs counterclockwise using a combination of blazes from Deer Browse 2 Pavilion and includes a slight course variation.
The event provides a six hour window during which participants complete repeated loops. Each loop is about 2 miles with roughly 300 feet of elevation gain per loop. The course is mostly single track and is fully shaded. After completing each loop, participants mark a tally next to their name on the tracker board. A race clock is used and participants record their check out time; in the case of a tie for top looper, completion time determines the winner.
Raffle tickets are awarded for each completed loop. Raffle rules limit individuals to one prize and prevent repeat winners. Awards are presented to the top female participant and the top male participant; high-volume loopers are recognized. Lunch is provided after the loop window. Runners must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
Registration opens June 7, 2026 and closes September 10, 2026. Registration fee is $0. Donations are accepted online, in cash at events, and via merchandise purchases at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
