North Downs Way Ultra Run : Guildford, Surrey

This is a guided trail run of approximately 30 miles along sections of the North Downs Way and nearby paths, starting and finishing at St Martha's Hill in Guildford. The route passes through the Surrey Hills, small villages, Denbies Wine Estate and the top of Box Hill, with a planned refreshment stop at Box Hill for a drink and cake. The run returns via the North Downs Way to Newland's Corner and St Martha's church.

The event is presented as an introduction to ultra running for first-time ultra runners. It is led by an experienced ultra runner and coach who provides route guidance and on-the-day advice. The format is group-paced rather than competitive, and participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be able to sustain an average pace of about 10 minutes per mile on trail for prolonged periods.

Practical details given by the organiser include a cost of £45 per person, a full kit list to be provided before the run, and a car park at the meeting point. Guildford is described as having good transport links by car and train; the meeting point is a short run or taxi ride from a train station. Participants may receive an alcohol-free beer after the run, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
