North Berwick Santa Beach Run - 24 Dec 2025

The 9th North Berwick Santa Beach Run takes place on 24 December 2025. The event raises funds for Medicins sans Frontieres. It offers three race distances along the East Lothian coastline, with the event base at Elcho Green, Forth Street, North Berwick, EH39 4BB.

Race details and logistics

All races start on the beach near Elcho Green and go out along the beach to the west of North Berwick and back. The route may involve getting feet wet and climbing over rocky sections; participants are advised to wear appropriate shoes and clothing for winter conditions. Dogs on a lead are permitted. Beach wheelchairs are available in North Berwick.

Distances:

  • 2 km - all ages (children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult)
  • 5 km - 13 years old and over
  • 10 km - 17 years old and over

Entry fees are: children up to and including 18 years old on the day - £6; adults aged 19 years and over on the day - £12. There are no refunds for cancelled entries. Public toilets are available in Quality Street and there are no changing rooms. Participants who sign up give consent to photos being taken that may be used for future publicity. Trail runs nearby

A 24 hour charity relay at Lochore Meadows Country Park where participants run laps of a multi terrain 5K loop. Distances range from 5K to ultramarathon and facilities include refreshments, shelter and first aid.

A mixed road, trail and hill event of at least 14.3 miles with 2200 feet of ascent, where competitors choose their route between hilltop checkpoints. The event has a Race and a Challenge; 2026 entries are full.

A chip-timed 5k, 10k and half marathon at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh with a measured course, hydration stations, marshals and a finisher's medal. Age guidance applies and dogs are not permitted.

A traditional hill race in the Pentland Hills with a senior 5.2 km course rising 310 m and a shorter junior out and back of about 2.2 km. Senior entry is paid while the junior race is free and the entry includes a donation to the Pentland H..
