Tentsmuir Forest 8-hour Challenge 2026
This event is an eight hour looped trail challenge held at Tentsmuir Forest, Fife on 24 October 2026. Participants complete as many laps of a measured 4.367 mile circuit as possible within the event time limit. Each lap includes about 20 ft of ascent. A GPX file for the route is provided on the event page.
Timing and lap tracking use electronic wrist tags that record start and finish of each lap. Runners must wear the tag visibly and avoid covering it with wet clothing to ensure accurate readings. On finishing, runners check out at Basecamp to return timing tags and receive a finisher bag.
Basecamp is shown on the GPX map and provides kit storage under two 6 x 3 metre gazebos; the organiser does not accept liability for lost kit. Spectators are welcome at Basecamp. Participants are encouraged to bring storage boxes or bags for equipment and post race clothing.
Mandatory kit guidance includes at least 1500 ml fluid at the start with refills available, 60–90 g carbohydrate per running hour, appropriate weather clothing, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone.
Practical details: entry fee listed at £44.95 (price valid until 21 October 2026), parking at Tentsmuir is charged at £4 per day, and total event places are 250.
