North Berwick Law - Saturday 25 October
The event is an orienteering meeting held at North Berwick Law in East Lothian. North Berwick Law is a conical volcanic plug that reaches 187 metres above sea level. The summit area includes remains of an Iron Age hill fort and the ruins of former military buildings. A replica whale jawbone is a distinctive feature on the top.
Courses and entry
Multiple courses are offered with different distances, climbs, and target age groups:
- White : 1.5 km, 65 m climb: competitive 9-10 and 11-12 beginners.
- Yellow : 2.0 km, 75 m climb: competitive 11-12 and 13-14 beginners.
- Orange : 3.0 km, 185 m climb: competitive 13-14 and beginner adults.
- Green : 4.5 km, 170 m climb: for experienced orienteers.
Entry fees vary by membership and category. Fees are listed separately for BOF members, SOA members, and non-members. Categories include Individual (senior and junior), Pair (senior and junior), Parent and Child, Family, and a junior second course with a reduced fee. Juniors are defined as under 21 on 31 December.
