NorCal Backyard Ultra

The NorCal Backyard Ultra is a "last person standing" trail race held at Beals Point, Folsom Lake, in Granite Bay, California. The event features two distinct race formats.

Last Person Standing The Last Person Standing race starts on Friday, October 23. Runners must begin a new lap at the top of each hour. Each lap is a 4.16-mile course with 320 ft of elevation gain. A runner is disqualified if they fail to start the next lap on time. The race continues until only one runner remains.

"Mini" Last Person Standing The "Mini" Last Person Standing race starts on Saturday, October 24. It follows the same format and course as the main event—a 4.16-mile loop each hour. However, this race has a maximum duration of 12 hours, ending for all participants at that time.

The race headquarters and aid station are located at the start/finish line in Beals Point. Aid provided includes water, hydration mix, light snacks, and warm food. Participants are encouraged to set up their personal aid stations near the start/finish line, as receiving aid on the course is not permitted.

All runners receive a quarter zip and a custom wood award based on the total miles run. The overall winner receives a custom wood plaque.

The event includes The Unity Initiative, a program that offers participants a future race discount if they make a donation to one of several listed nonprofit partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
