The NorCal Backyard Ultra returns for its third edition at Folsom Lake’s Beals Point in Granite Bay, California. The event features two linked formats: Last Person Standing and Mini Last Person. Registration closes November 5, 2025. Cash prizes are only eligible for entrants in the Last Person Standing event and include a $400 award to the Last Person Standing; additional cash awards are provided for second place and for the last female standing.
Format, course, aid, and awards
Runners complete a repeating 4.2 mile loop each hour. At the top of each hour participants must start the next 4.2 mile lap and finish the previous lap; failing to appear at the start line at the top of the hour results in disqualification. The Mini event uses the same hourly 4.2 mile format with a 24 hour limit. The course uses rolling singletrack and lakefront trails and has been adjusted from prior years due to construction at Folsom Lake.
There are no on-course aid stations. A fully stocked aid station will be located at Beals Point. Entrants receive a parking spot near the start/finish and may use the nearby grassy area as a personal aid station. All runners receive a hoodie and a wood carved finisher award for their furthest completed distance. Runners who reach 100 miles or further receive a bronze finisher belt buckle.
