The Nine Trails 35 Mile Endurance Run and a non-competitive 18-mile fun run take place in Santa Barbara, California. The start and finish area is the Jesusita Trailhead on San Roque Road.
Course Description
The main 35-mile course runs from the Jesusita Trailhead to the Romero Canyon Trailhead and back, covering much of the Santa Barbara front country trail system. The course includes steep, rocky, and technical trails. It features over 10,000 vertical feet of gain and descent. The route passes landmarks like Inspiration Point, Tunnel Trail, Gibraltar Road, West Cold Spring Trail, and the steep Edison Catwalk section known locally as "the wall."
Aid Stations and Support
The course is minimally marked with colored ribbon, and participants are required to use a provided digital GPX map. Runners should be prepared for long sections between aid. Full aid stations are located at approximately miles 9, 17, 26, 31, and the finish. The event is described as not crew and spectator friendly, and support is limited.
Additional Information
There is no parking at the start/finish area; participants must arrange for drop-off and pickup. Registration includes aid on course, a tech t-shirt, and finisher awards.
