Event overview
The AdventHealth Nighthawk Trail Run takes place at Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The event offers three options:
- Night Owl 5K (3.1 miles)
- Coyote 10K (6.2 miles)
- Nighthawk 15K Challenge - run both the 5K and 10K back-to-back
All courses are loop courses on unpaved trails inside the state park. The organizer notes that trails may include soft sand, standing water, mud, rocks, roots, and wildlife. Strollers, baby joggers, and pets are prohibited on the courses. All 5K participants must start with a battery-powered headlamp.
Timing, awards and amenities
The races use chip timing and offer awards three deep in five-year age groups for both events, plus top overall and masters awards. Finishers receive a medal for each completed event; those who complete the Nighthawk Challenge receive an additional bonus medal. Participants receive a cotton T-shirt and there will be post-race food and drinks.
Virtual options are available for the 15K challenge and for 5K-10K distances as remote runs. Runners registering for the Nighthawk Challenge are advised to be able to run a sub 1:30 10K.
