New Forest Xmas Trails
The New Forest Xmas Trails is a trail running event held in the New Forest National Park. The races start and finish at the Holmesly Campsite in Bransgore, near Burley. The event features four different distances, each consisting of a single-lap off-road course. Participants run through local heathland and woodland areas within the national park.
The available distances include:
- 15 km
- 30 km
- 42.2 km (Marathon)
- 50 km (Ultramarathon)
All courses are fully marked with arrows, though runners are encouraged to carry a mobile device with the GPX file for navigation. Aid stations are located along the routes, and on-course photographers are present during the event. Bag drop tents are provided at the start and finish area for all participants.
Specific mandatory kit requirements apply for the 30 km, Marathon, and 50 km distances, including a minimum of 500 ml of fluid, a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, buff, foil blanket or survival bag, and a mobile phone. Cut-off times are enforced for all distances, ranging from three hours for the 15 km to eight hours for the 50 km and Marathon.
Finishers receive a bespoke medal, or they can choose to have a tree planted through the Trees Not Tees organization instead of receiving a physical award.
