NAV4 LAW75 Recce: Buckden to Mallerstang is scheduled for 3 January 2026. The recce covers the middle section of the LAW75 route and is described as about 20+ miles. The event fee is £30. Entries open 19 November 2025 and close 30 December 2025. Capacity is limited to 12 participants. The event is organised by NAV4 and is open to everyone.

Route and logistics

Participants meet at Kirkby Stephen and travel by minibus to Buckden. The route climbs out of Wharfedale, passes Nappa Hall and Askrigg, then continues west up Wensleydale to Hardraw and Cotterdale. It includes the section past the Andy Goldsworthy sculptures at the head of the Eden Valley and runs down to Pendragon Castle. The recce may be done partly in the dark. Minibus support is provided throughout and will carry drinks and nibbles if the Askrigg coffee shop is closed.

There is plentiful parking in Kirkby Stephen and a railway station at Kirkby Stephen. Tebay junction 38 on the M6 is the nearest motorway access mentioned. The first third of the overall LAW75 route, from Skipton to Buckden, is served by local Dales Buses. Rail travel on the Settle-to-Carlisle line links Kirkby Stephen to Appleby.
