Event Overview
The Nail Can Hill Run is an annual outdoor event held in Albury, New South Wales. Organized by the Rotary Club of Albury West, the event takes place within the Nail Can Hill reserve, featuring a course that traverses the ridge bordering the west side of Albury. The terrain consists primarily of fire access tracks, supplemented by short sections of gravel and bitumen roads.
Course Categories
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 11.3 km Trail Run/Walk: This route begins on Centaur Road in Lavington and finishes at Bonnie Doon Park in West Albury. The course is highlighted by steep inclines and views of the surrounding natural environment.
- 11.3 km Walk: Following the same route as the run, walkers typically complete the distance in approximately three hours.
- 15 km Mountain Bike Ride: A cycling event that starts at the Lavington Sports Ground precinct and concludes at Bonnie Doon Park.
- Iron Man / Iron Woman: A combined category where participants complete both the 15 km mountain bike ride and the 11.3 km run, with results based on an aggregate time.
- 4 km Half Can: A shorter run conducted on unsealed surfaces, starting and finishing within Bonnie Doon Park.
Logistics
The 11.3 km and 15 km courses are marked with distance indicators and directional arrows. A bag drop service is available at the Centaur Road start area, where belongings are transported to the finish line. A free return shuttle bus service is also provided for participants.
