Mynydd Myfyr Hill Run
Mynydd Myfyr Hill Run is a short hill race based at Trefonen Village Hall, School Lane, Trefonen, SY10 9DY. The course is approximately 6.5 km (about 4 miles) with around 150 m of climb. The minimum age for entry is over 15 and entry on the day is £7. The event supports the Trefonen Hill Walk Weekend. Registration is requested at least 30 minutes before the race; the start is about 500 m from registration.
The route crosses mixed terrain through farmland, wooded areas and country lanes and includes sections on open roads. The course is partly marked with way-marker poles and fluorescent signs placed regularly. Underfoot conditions may include loose stones and muddy bridle paths; two fences or stiles must be negotiated on the way to the trig point on Mynydd Myfyr and may be slippery when wet. Marshals and first aid are available to report hazards or incidents. Participants are asked to respect the natural environment and keep clear of livestock.
General route information notes mainly accessible lowland areas with heights rarely above 300 m. Navigation is simple or the route is fully waymarked and little or no off-trail mountain experience is required. There are multiple escape options along the course and any inclement weather is unlikely to present serious challenges. Recorded course best times are 19:53 (male, 2003) and 22:58 (female, 2005).
