MTC ENBARR : race overview

The MTC ENBARR is a point-to-point ultra run forming Day 7 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen-day end-to-end of Ireland. The listed total distance for the race is 35.7 miles, starting at Hylands Burren Hotel, Main Street, Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare and finishing at the Nox Hotel, Galway.

Entry is limited: 20 race-only places plus an allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, giving a maximum of 40 runners. All finishers receive an ENBARR medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Entry fee options are published as £90 for the race and £155 for the race plus an embroidered shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket (garment orders must be completed at least four weeks before the event). All payments are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is available at checkout.

The organisers set mandatory kit requirements and provide route maps and GPX files to entrants by email four weeks before the event. Competitors are required to carry items including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS function; real-time tracking is available during the race.

Time controls are enforced on an average minimum speed of 4.0 mph. Competitors falling below this threshold will receive warnings and may be withdrawn. The event is cup-free; runners must provide their own reusable cup. Checkpoints offer standard feed such as malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Run forest trails at Kylebrack Woods, County Galway on Saturday 25 April 2026 with an 11.3 km main loop (187 m climb) and a 4 km junior course. Fully marked easy terrain in the Galway League, showerproof jacket is mandatory.
