Knock Ma
Knock Ma is a mountain running event organised by the Irish Mountain Running Association in County Galway on Wednesday 12th August 2026. The start and finish area is at the car park of Knockma hill; parking is public and often busy.
Distances:
- 9.60 km main course with 359 m climb
- 4.00 km short course
- 4 km junior course
The route is fully marked. GPS devices are not allowed. The event difficulty is listed as level 5, described as easy terrain with 200 m to 500 m ascent over 6 km to 10 km. The race is part of the Galway League. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 10th August 2026 and close Wednesday 12th August 2026. Event places are limited to 250.
Mandatory kit is Level B standard and must be carried or available as required. Required items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The specific kit to carry during the race will be confirmed on the day. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification.
