Courses use mostly fire roads, dirt roads, and single-track trails with long climbs and descents. Elevation gain varies by distance, from about 718 feet for the 5K up to 7,703 feet on the 50K; the 52 mile course is listed with 12,602 feet when offered. The 52 mile distance will not take place in 2025 and is planned to return in 2026.
Aid stations are placed along each course, with toilets available at the start/finish and at all aid stations on course. Drop bag locations are specified for some distances. Courses are marked with colored ribbons, reflective flags, cones, and gypsum arrows; several short sections have no ribbons and are described in the course notes. Pacers are permitted only for the 52 mile distance when that distance is held.
Entry fees are non-refundable; transfers to future events are allowed with advance notice. Free parking is available near the venue, carpooling is encouraged, and certain parking restrictions apply at the Mockingbird entrance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
