Event

The Mountain Mist is a trail 50K held at Monte Sano State Park and on Huntsville Land Trust trails in Huntsville, Alabama. This is the 32nd running of the event. The field is limited to 50K with 525 accepted runners for the Mountain Mist 50km entry list. Every finisher receives a hand made finisher slate and age-group and overall awards are given.

Course and aid

The course follows rocky single-track trails with mud and creek crossings and about 4,300 feet of climbing. A steep section on the Waterline Trail requires the use of the upper body. The final six miles run into and out of McKay Hollow on very rugged trails. Six major aid and check-in stations are located at O'Shaughnessy Point, Closed Bankhead, Oak Park Ball Fields, Land Trust, Trough Springs, and Rest Shelter Hill, with additional support at the finish. Aid stations provide water, sports drink, and basic food items. Medical and evacuation support is provided by HEMSI HART Rescue Team and the Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit.
