Mountain Man Ultra - 50K at Little Pine State Park, Waterville, PA
The Mountain Man Ultra is a trail race covering 50K on rugged routes in and around Little Pine State Park near Waterville, PA. The course follows the former Call of the Wilds 50K route and uses familiar regional trails through Pine Creek Valley.
Runners travel a mixture of rocky, off-camber, and constantly changing singletrack. The route moves from an initial road climb onto the Mid State Trail, then through a relentless first half with a brief reset on Pine Creek Trail in Ramsey. The back half includes long climbs across Spiked Buck, Tiadaghton, and Pesto, followed by the steep Torbert climb at mile 26 and a final descent down Panther Run to the finish.
The course accumulates roughly 7,500 feet of elevation gain over 50 kilometers. Typical finish times vary; the median finish is around 7 hours 45 minutes and most runners finish between 6 and 10 hours. There is an 11 hour cutoff.
