Mogadishu Mile - Georgetown, Kentucky
The Mogadishu Mile is an obstacle course event held at the White Sulphur Baptist Church property in Georgetown, Kentucky. The race commemorates the 1993 trek by US Army Rangers and Special Forces during the Battle of Mogadishu. This team-based competition emphasizes resilience and teamwork while honoring the history of the Black Hawk Down incident.
Participants compete in teams of four members. The event begins with an obstacle portion spanning less than 0.5 miles. During this phase, teams must carry four ammo cans while completing 100 total repetitions of five different exercises: tire flips, box jumps, smash balls, burpees, and push-ups. Repetitions can be distributed among team members as they choose.
Following the final exercise, teams drop the ammo cans and carry a 35 lb. ruck for a 1 mile run. To remain eligible, the entire four-person team must start the course together, complete all obstacles together, and finish together. Time is recorded only when the final team member crosses the finish line.
Available event categories include:
- 1 Mile obstacle course and ruck run
The event features multiple divisions for awards, including Adult Elite, Adult Novice, College ROTC, High School Co-Ed, and High School All-Female. Recognition is provided for the first, second, and third-place finishers in each of these categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
