Event Overview

The Missing Link Spring Challenge is a weekend camping, running, and hiking gathering on the trails of Glacial Lakes State Park in Starbuck, Minnesota. It is organized by the Missing Link Running Club, a trail and ultramarathon group from Minneapolis. The event is not timed and has no set running course. Participants can run, hike, bike on the nearby Glacial Ridge Bike Trail, or socialize.

Camping and Facilities

Camping for Friday and Saturday nights is included at the group campsite, with space for tents. Camping gear is not provided. The site has a covered pavilion with a fire pit, very limited shared electric outlets, and outhouses. Water availability at the campsite is seasonal; water is always available near the park entrance. Showers are available for a fee in the main campground. The swimming beach is a short walk away. All participants must purchase their own Minnesota state park pass.

Participation Details

The event has a limit of 50 total people. Participants can stay both nights or attend just for Saturday. Registration is required for anyone spending time in the campsite, including children and non-runners. Children 18 and under with an adult can register for free using a code. Participants are asked to indicate their arrival and departure times when registering. Friday arrival is possible after 5:00 PM, and the campsite must be vacated by 12:00 PM on Sunday.

Weekend Schedule

On Friday, no food is provided; participants should eat beforehand or bring food to cook. On Saturday, an ultramarathon-style aid station will operate all day at the campsite, offering self-serve standard snacks and scheduled hot food like pancakes or soup. Activities are self-directed, with trail loops accessible from the campsite and access to the bike trail. A communal dinner with vegetarian and meat options is provided Saturday evening.
